Sara Rasmussen of Johns Hopkins reviews the science that establishes the harm that Fracking does to its neighbors. There is no free lunch- “mailbox money” comes with ruinous health consequences and impacts on quality of life. We need not mention that fossil fuels threaten life as we now know it and possibly the survival of large swaths of humanity. Those who make money in this dirty business work to suppress and discredit this sort of information.
Let’s keep the fossil fuels in the ground.
Fracking chemicals are proprietary. It is forbidden to share that with health and medical professionals or the government. Ask the contents and amounts are “proprietary,” top secret from the public and their competitors. But we know that they contain acids, sand, VOC’s such as benzine, toluene, ethyl alcohol & xylene from testing done by residents & victims of the wastes being dumped on the roads, farm land & the solids that have been dumped with filters in landfills illegally. They also contain radioactive elements from the decay of uranium, radium and radon, the “radon daughters” that are “bone seekers.” These radioactive isotopes, once breathed in or eaten or drank, decay after being incorporated by the body in our bones, which causes bone cancer, leukemia and other cancers. That is why drilling and extracting natural gas and oil with fracking must be stopped. It can not be done safely and adds to global warming. It is not necessary as a “transition fuel.” The only methane we should extract or burn is from sewage treatment, landfill piles, & agricultural feedlots, barns, slaughter houses, & biomass generators if needed by a farmer or rancher or herder. We have the technology & natural resources to meet our energy needs without the burning of fossil fuels or nuclear power now. Go to the Websites of https://thesolutionsproject.org/ and https://rmi.org/ for the plans, pilot projects and advances of renewable energy. The Solutions Project has plans for 146 Countries and for all of the 50 of the United States of America, with just the use of solar, wind, geothermal and hydroelectric power. We have the technology and the natural resources to do this now. All we lack is the political will to do so because the dying, fossil, nuclear & for profit, centralized electric utilities have bought the votes of our elected leaders in both the State and Federal Government from both Political Parties. We will not “starve and freeze in the dark, nor wreck our economy in the process of transitioning to a renewable energy economy.” Fracking like nuclear power is too dangerous, too expensive and totally unnecessary for our energy needs. And we don’t need or want it as a “transition fuel” until renewable energy is ready or part of an “All of the Above” Energy Strategy.
