(Bucks Concerned About
Unsafe Shale-gas Extraction)

Dear  Friends,

Here's our first "Minute Message"...

Back Story: In April 2015 Upper Makefield Township asked their attorney to draft an ordinance to create an oil and gas drilling zone in the Wrightstown Quarry. The Courier Times (7/17/15) interviewed the attorney and he dismissed the importance of it saying that there are no known deposits of oil and gas under the jointure townships.

Surprising Fact: It was four years ago, in 2011, that the US Geological Survey estimated with 90% certainty that commercial amounts of gas are in the Newark Basin shale under our area. That estimate prompted the state to put a moratorium on drilling in the Delaware Basin and to commission a study. It's misleading to say that oil and gas are not known to be present.  Though nobody has proved it, Turm Oil evidently is eager to drill. If the state's study confirms USGS estimates more drillers will follow.

Let's not just wait and see what happens.
