Two Alerts Actually ...

March 25th

Dear subscriber,

There are Two Action Alerts:

Newtown Twp. Supervisor’s Meeting, Wed., Sept. 9 at 7:30pm             and
“Faith, Climate & Fracking:  A Moral Call to Action” forum, Sat., Sept. 12 at 7pm

Come to the Newtown Township Supervisor’s meeting on Wed., Sept 9 at 7:30pm.  The five Supervisors will be voting on the resolution that calls upon the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) “to continue and make permanent the moratorium on shale-gas development in the Basin;” AND calls upon the Pennsylvania General Assembly “to continue and make permanent the Commonwealth of Pa’s moratorium on permits for shale gas development in the South Newark Basin .”  This is important because it will be the first township to endorse this resolution.  Click here for the explanation and full text of this resolution on our NoFrackingBucks.net website.

“Faith, Climate, & Fracking: A Moral Call to Action,” Sat., Sept. 12, 7:00-8:30pm at Newtown Friends Meeting (219 Court Street) - Attend and bring your neighbors and friends

Looking for solutions to the destructive and disruptive fossil fuel economy?  Want to connect with others who see this as a matter of stewardship of the earth?  Want to share your ideas and hear what others have to say?  Let’s focus our actions and multiply strategic alliances among concerns about peace, human rights, racial justice, economics, and moral and spiritual integrity.  The program will include short videos and presentations, but the bulk of this forum is for networking and discussion. On the pre-registration site, there is also an on-line opportunity for faith leaders to sign an open letter to Governor Wolf.  This event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is requested.
